Next week, the Vancouver Convention Centre will host the Interior Design Show West. The Show Kicks off Thursday September 29th with a party featuring a sneak peak of Vancouver fashion week, Montreal’s DJ Mario Galego, and the best in art and architecture. During the day on Friday the show is open to the trade only and our studio is looking forward to finding the latest products and technologies the west coast has to offer. It is always great to have unique and local products included in our designs so we hope to find those items that will take our projects to the next level.
On Friday night, the show opens up to the public and two fantastic individuals are set to speak about their designs. The first is Ross Lovegrove, an industrial
designer who has won numerous prestigious awards and whose work has been published and exhibited internationally. One of his most iconic pieces is the supernatural chair shown here.
The second is local Omer Arbel who founded Omer Arbel Office (or OAO), a Vancouver-based design practice which aims to collapse traditional boundaries between the
professions of building and industrial design, craft and materials research. Omer is also the creative director of the very successful manufacturing and design company Bocci. Shown here are some of the beautiful light fixtures that Bocci creates.
Saturday is house and home day at the show and features speakers from House and Home Media. Topics covered include how to make a room memorable, tips and tricks from the pros, and bringing the outdoors in. Saturday is sure to be a busy and eventful day at the show!
On Sunday, local designer and HGTV star Kelly Deck will be speaking about taking risks in interior design and there will be a screening on the very colourful life of fashion icon Barbara Hulanicki. Don’t forget to stop by the “What’s your design dilemma” booth where the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) will be offering free 10-minute consultations with an IDIBC Registered Interior Designer.
